3. Changing The Menu. For Good

In the last 5 years, the need for food banks has increased by 128%, with such strong demand for support, organisations that help to tackle food poverty and homelessness need more support than ever before.

Changing The Menu. For Good is a pioneering project by Visit Belfast and our industry to enlist venues, caterers and event organisers to directly raise funds and supplies for those experiencing food poverty in our city, to date Visit Belfast has raised almost  £28,000.

4. Sustainable Accredited Product

In 2021 Visit Belfast and Belfast City Council launched a partnership with Green Tourism to position Belfast as a leader in sustainable tourism. This partnership has resulted in more than 50 businesses in Belfast gaining a third party, independent sustainability accreditation including venues, hotels, attractions, restaurants and more. Also 76% of hotel bedrooms in Belfast have a sustainability accreditation.

5. Walkable City

Getting around the city with minimal carbon impact couldn’t be easier. Belfast is a walkable city with the majority of hotels, restaurants, and bars within a 10 minute walking distance of the city centre.

  • More than 300 Belfast Bikes are available to rent all year round, making it a flexible and sustainable way to move around the city quickly.
  • 33% of all Translink Metro services are now net zero carbon. The new zero emission fleet of buses are made up of 80 battery-electric and 23 Hydrogen buses.
